Description

Human STH ELISA Kit

Human STH ELISA kits are used to detect Saitohin (STH) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. STH, or saitohin, is a small protein of about 128 amino acids encoded by a gene nested within an intron of the MAPT gene, which encodes the microtubule-associated protein tau. It is expressed in brain, and its biological function is not well characterized. A common polymorphism that changes glutamine at position 7 to arginine (Q7R) is in strong linkage disequilibrium with the MAPT H1 and H2 haplotypes and has been examined as a genetic risk factor for tauopathies and neurodegenerative conditions such as progressive supranuclear palsy and Alzheimer disease, although reported associations have been inconsistent. Saitohin is therefore of interest mainly in neurodegeneration genetics and tau biology.
