Description
Human SUV39H1 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human SUV39H1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Gly7-Met271, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 33.25 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SUV39H1 is a ~47 kDa protein. Histone methyltransferase that specifically mediates trimethylation of 'Lys-9' of histone H3 (H3K9me3) using monomethylated H3 'Lys-9' (H3K9me1) as substrate. For research use only.
Also weakly methylates histone H1 (in vitro). H3 'Lys-9' trimethylation represents a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression by recruiting HP1 (CBX1, CBX3 and/or CBX5) proteins to methylated histones. Mainly functions in heterochromatin regions, thereby playing a central role in the establishment of constitutive heterochromatin at pericentric and telomere regions. H3 'Lys-9' trimethylation is also required to direct DNA methylation at pericentric repeats.
