Description

Human TDP43 ELISA Kit

Human TDP43 ELISA kits are used to detect Tar DNA Binding Protein 43kDa (TDP43) in serum, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid and other biological samples. TDP43, or TAR DNA-binding protein 43, is a nuclear RNA-binding protein, encoded by the TARDBP gene, that binds GU-rich sequences in long introns and 3' untranslated regions and regulates RNA splicing, stability and transport. It shuttles between nucleus and cytoplasm and is needed for the processing of many transcripts, including those important for neuronal survival and for neurodegenerative disease. In disease, TDP43 is depleted from the nucleus and forms hyperphosphorylated, ubiquitinated cytoplasmic inclusions. Such TDP43 pathology is a hallmark of most amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and of frontotemporal lobar degeneration, and mutations in TARDBP cause familial forms of ALS, so TDP43 is an important target in neurodegeneration research.
