Description

Human THRa ELISA Kit

Human THRa ELISA kits are used to detect Thyroid Hormone Receptor Alpha (THRa) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. THRa, thyroid hormone receptor alpha (NR1A1, c-erbA-alpha), is a nuclear hormone receptor that binds thyroid hormones, mainly triiodothyronine and also thyroxine, with high affinity and acts as a ligand-regulated transcription factor that can repress or activate target genes. The THRA gene gives rise to isoform alpha-1, the active receptor, and isoform alpha-2, which does not bind hormone and acts as a weak dominant-negative inhibitor of thyroid hormone action. THRa is particularly important in heart, bone, gut and brain, where it regulates growth, development, metabolism and heart rate. Variants cause congenital non-goitrous hypothyroidism type 6, with growth and developmental retardation, skeletal dysplasia and tissue-selective hormone resistance.
