Description

Human tPA ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human tPA ELISA kits are used to detect Tissue Plasminogen Activator (tPA) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. tPA is a serine protease synthesized mainly by vascular endothelial cells and released into the blood, where it initiates fibrinolysis by converting the inactive zymogen plasminogen into plasmin through cleavage of a single peptide bond. By controlling plasmin-mediated proteolysis, tPA contributes to the breakdown of fibrin clots, tissue remodeling and cell migration, and it also takes part in the zona reaction that blocks polyspermy during oocyte activation. The balance between tPA and its inhibitors is important for vascular health. Excessive tPA activity is associated with increased fibrinolysis and bleeding, whereas defective release can lead to hypofibrinolysis, thrombosis or embolism, so tPA is widely studied in cardiovascular and thrombotic disease.
