Description

Human TRIC ELISA Kit

Human TRIC ELISA kits are used to detect Tricellulin (TRIC) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. Tricellulin, encoded by MARVELD2, is a tetraspan tight junction protein concentrated at tricellular contacts, the points where three epithelial cells meet. It is needed for the formation and sealing of tricellular tight junctions and thereby contributes to epithelial barrier function, working with proteins such as angulins. In the inner ear it is important for hearing, because it helps to separate the endolymphatic and perilymphatic spaces of the organ of Corti and supports survival of hair cells. Loss-of-function variants cause autosomal recessive non-syndromic sensorineural deafness, designated DFNB49. Tricellulin expression and localisation can change in conditions of barrier disruption such as inflammatory bowel disease, so it is studied in epithelial barrier and auditory research.
