Human UGT8 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Ala21-Gln471, with an N-terminal His tag. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. 2-hydroxyacylsphingosine 1-beta-galactosyltransferase is a ~61 kDa protein. Catalyzes the transfer of galactose to ceramide, a key enzymatic step in the biosynthesis of galactocerebrosides, which are abundant sphingolipids of the myelin membrane of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. Galactosylates both hydroxy- and non-hydroxy fatty acid-containing ceramides and diglycerides.
