Description

Human Viperin ELISA Kit

Human Viperin ELISA kits are used to detect Virus Inhibitory Protein (Viperin) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. Viperin, encoded by RSAD2, is an interferon-inducible antiviral protein and a central component of the cellular antiviral state induced by type I and type II interferons. It is a radical SAM enzyme that converts CTP into 3'-deoxy-3',4'-didehydro-CTP, a molecule that acts as a chain terminator for viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerases. Viperin restricts a broad range of viruses, including cytomegalovirus, hepatitis C virus, dengue, Zika, influenza A and HIV-1, promotes TLR7- and TLR9-dependent interferon-beta production in plasmacytoid dendritic cells, and influences T-helper 2 cell activation. Raised viperin expression is therefore used as an indicator of interferon responses during viral infection.
