Description

Human XPD ELISA Kit

Human XPD ELISA kits are used to detect Xeroderma Pigmentosum, Complementation Group D (XPD) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. XPD, encoded by the ERCC2 gene, is an ATP-dependent 5' to 3' DNA helicase and a core subunit of the general transcription and DNA repair factor TFIIH. In nucleotide excision repair it helps open the DNA around a lesion, recognise damaged bases and verify the damage before the lesion is excised. In transcription it bridges the CDK-activating kinase module and the TFIIH core, supporting promoter opening and RNA polymerase II initiation, and it also takes part in chromosome segregation as part of the MMXD complex. Mutations in XPD cause xeroderma pigmentosum group D and related disorders such as trichothiodystrophy, which are characterised by UV sensitivity, skin cancer predisposition and sometimes neurological features.
