Description

Human XRCC5 ELISA Kit

Human XRCC5 ELISA kits are used to detect X-Ray Repair Cross Complementing 5 (XRCC5) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. XRCC5, also known as Ku80 or Ku86, is a DNA-binding protein critical for the DNA damage response, particularly the repair of double-strand breaks by classical non-homologous end joining. It forms a heterodimer with XRCC6, or Ku70, which binds DNA ends, recruits repair factors and assembles the long-range complex that aligns and ligates broken ends. This pathway also generates diversity in T-cell receptors and antibodies through V(D)J recombination. XRCC5 may act as a 5'-dRP lyase at abasic sites near breaks, contributes to telomere maintenance, acts as a cofactor for transcription factors and takes part in innate immune sensing of DNA viruses. It is studied in genome stability, ageing and cancer, and Ku is a well-known autoantigen.
