Mouse AIFM1 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Mouse AIFM1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Val131-Lys321, with an N-terminal His tag. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Apoptosis-inducing factor 1, mitochondrial is a ~66 kDa protein. Functions both as NADH oxidoreductase and as regulator of apoptosis. For research use only.
In response to apoptotic stimuli, it is released from the mitochondrion intermembrane space into the cytosol and to the nucleus, where it functions as a proapoptotic factor in a caspase-independent pathway. Release into the cytoplasm is mediated upon binding to poly-ADP-ribose chains. The soluble form (AIFsol) found in the nucleus induces 'parthanatos' i.e. caspase-independent fragmentation of chromosomal DNA.
