Description

Mouse AMY2 ELISA Kit

Mouse AMY2 ELISA kits are used to detect Amylase Alpha 2, Pancreatic (AMY2) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. AMY2, or pancreatic alpha-amylase, is a calcium-dependent digestive enzyme that is produced in large amounts by the acinar cells of the pancreas and secreted into the duodenum with pancreatic juice. It hydrolyzes the internal alpha-1,4 glycosidic bonds of starch and glycogen to produce maltose, maltotriose and limit dextrins, which are further broken down by brush border enzymes. A related salivary amylase is encoded by neighboring genes, and the pancreatic and salivary forms can be distinguished by their isoenzyme patterns. A small amount of pancreatic amylase is normally present in blood, and raised serum or urinary levels are a classical marker of acute pancreatitis and other pancreatic injury or duct obstruction. Gene copy number has also been linked to starch digestion.
