Description

Mouse ATG7 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Mouse ATG7 ELISA kits are used to detect Autophagy Related Protein 7 (ATG7) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ATG7 (autophagy-related protein 7) is an E1-like activating enzyme expressed in essentially all tissues, and it is required for two ubiquitin-like conjugation systems that drive autophagy. It activates ATG12 for attachment to ATG5 and activates ATG8 family proteins, including LC3, for conjugation to phosphatidylethanolamine, a step that generates LC3-II on autophagosome membranes. These reactions are needed for autophagosome formation, for selective processes such as mitophagy, and for cytoplasm-to-vacuole transport in yeast. ATG7 loss disrupts cellular quality control and is associated with neurodegeneration in experimental systems. Biallelic variants have been linked to a recessive spinocerebellar ataxia with developmental delay, and ATG7 is studied in cancer, metabolism and ageing.
