Description

Mouse ATP1a1 ELISA Kit

Mouse ATP1a1 ELISA kits are used to detect ATPase, Na+/K+ Transporting Alpha 1 Polypeptide (ATP1a1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ATP1a1 is the alpha 1 catalytic subunit of the Na+/K+-ATPase, the sodium pump found in the plasma membrane of virtually all animal cells. It hydrolyses ATP to export three sodium ions and import two potassium ions in each cycle, creating the electrochemical gradients that sustain membrane potential, cell volume and secondary transport of nutrients and ions. The alpha 1 isoform is the dominant form in kidney and most other tissues, and it is the binding site for cardiac glycosides such as ouabain and digoxin. The pump also participates in signalling. Variants in ATP1A1 have been associated with axonal Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, so it is widely used as a loading control and investigated in disease.
