Description

Mouse bCTx ELISA Kit

Mouse bCTx ELISA kits are used to detect Beta-Crosslaps (bCTx) in serum, plasma, urine and other biological samples. Beta-CrossLaps (bCTx) is the beta-isomerised form of the cross-linked C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen, a fragment released when osteoclasts degrade bone matrix. Type I collagen makes up most of the organic phase of bone, and as the matrix ages the aspartic acid residues in the telopeptide undergo isomerisation, giving the beta form that is typical of mature bone. Because the fragment enters the bloodstream and urine during resorption, its concentration is widely used as a marker of bone resorption rate. Levels may be raised in osteoporosis, Paget disease, hyperparathyroidism and metastatic bone disease, and a decrease is commonly seen when anti-resorptive therapy is effective.
