Description

Mouse CAT ELISA Kit

Mouse CAT ELISA kits are used to detect catestatin (CAT) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, urine and other biological samples. CAT here refers to catestatin, a 21-amino-acid bioactive peptide released by proteolytic processing of chromogranin A, which is stored in the secretory granules of neuroendocrine cells such as adrenal chromaffin cells and sympathetic neurons. Catestatin was identified as an endogenous inhibitor of catecholamine release, acting as a non-competitive antagonist at nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, and it also lowers blood pressure, promotes vasodilation through histamine release and has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities. Plasma catestatin may be reduced in patients with hypertension and has been associated with cardiovascular disease, heart failure and metabolic disorders, so it is studied as a marker of sympathoadrenal activity and cardiac stress.
