Description

Mouse CERK ELISA Kit

Mouse CERK ELISA kits are used to detect Ceramide Kinase (CERK) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. CERK, or ceramide kinase, is a lipid kinase that specifically phosphorylates ceramide to produce ceramide 1-phosphate, a bioactive sphingolipid. It acts efficiently on natural long-chain ceramides, with a preference for the D-erythro isomer, and it does not phosphorylate sphingosine, and its phosphoinositide-binding domain helps localise it to the Golgi and plasma membrane. By shifting the balance between ceramide, which promotes cell death and growth arrest, and ceramide 1-phosphate, which promotes survival, proliferation and inflammatory signalling, CERK is a regulator of the sphingolipid rheostat. It is also involved in phagocytosis and mast cell degranulation. CERK has therefore been investigated in cancer, inflammation and retinal degeneration research.
