Description

Mouse CNTN1 ELISA Kit

Mouse CNTN1 ELISA kits are used to detect Contactin 1 (CNTN1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. CNTN1, or contactin 1, is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored cell adhesion molecule of the immunoglobulin superfamily that is expressed on neurons and mediates cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Through its association with CNTNAP1 it is involved in forming paranodal axo-glial junctions in myelinated peripheral nerves and in signalling between axons and myelinating glia. It also acts as a ligand for NOTCH1, promoting NOTCH1 activation and the generation of oligodendrocytes, and its interaction with tenascin-R can repel neurons and inhibit neurite outgrowth. Variants cause a lethal congenital myopathy, and autoantibodies against contactin-1 have been described in some autoimmune neuropathies, so the protein is studied in demyelinating and neuromuscular disease.
