Description

Mouse CRYaB ELISA Kit

Mouse CRYaB ELISA kits are used to detect Crystallin Alpha B (CRYaB) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. CRYaB, or alpha B-crystallin (HspB5), is a small heat shock protein that is abundant in the eye lens, where it helps maintain transparency and refractive index, and is also expressed in heart, skeletal muscle and other tissues. It has chaperone-like activity, preventing the aggregation of many proteins under a wide range of stress conditions, and in lens epithelial cells it stabilises ATP6V1A and protects it from proteasomal degradation. Variants in CRYaB cause adult-onset myofibrillar myopathy with cardiomyopathy and cataract. Elevated CRYaB has also been reported in neurodegenerative conditions, where it accumulates in protein aggregates such as Rosenthal fibres, and in some cancers, so it is studied as a marker of cellular stress responses.
