Description

Mouse D2D ELISA Kit

Mouse D2D ELISA kits are used to detect D-Dimer (D2D) in plasma and other biological samples. D-dimer is a fibrin degradation product made up of two D domains of fibrin cross-linked by factor XIIIa, released when plasmin breaks down a cross-linked fibrin clot. It is therefore a direct indicator that thrombin generation, fibrin formation and subsequent fibrinolysis have taken place, and in healthy people it is present only at very low concentrations. Raised D-dimer is a sensitive but non-specific marker of active coagulation, and has been associated with venous thromboembolism, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, disseminated intravascular coagulation, aortic dissection, cancer, infection and inflammation, as well as pregnancy and ageing. A normal value helps to make thrombosis less likely, so D-dimer is widely used in haemostasis and thrombosis research.
