Description

Mouse FAAH ELISA Kit

Mouse FAAH ELISA kits are used to detect Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase (FAAH) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. FAAH (fatty acid amide hydrolase 1) is an integral membrane serine hydrolase of the endoplasmic reticulum, expressed in the brain, liver, kidney and small intestine. It breaks down fatty acid amides, including the endocannabinoid anandamide and the sleep-inducing lipid oleamide, into fatty acids and amines, and so terminates their signalling. By controlling anandamide levels it influences pain perception, anxiety, mood, inflammation and appetite. Pharmacological inhibition of FAAH raises endocannabinoid tone and has analgesic and anxiolytic effects in experimental models, making it a target of drug development. A common variant that reduces enzyme stability has been associated with problem drug use, obesity and altered anxiety-related behaviour, and FAAH is also studied in the endocannabinoid biology of cancer.
