Description

Mouse HHIP ELISA Kit

Mouse HHIP ELISA kits are used to detect Hedgehog Interacting Protein (HHIP) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. HHIP, hedgehog interacting protein, is a membrane-associated glycoprotein that modulates hedgehog signalling in several cell types, including those of the brain and lung, through direct interaction with members of the hedgehog family. By binding hedgehog ligands such as sonic, Indian and desert hedgehog with high affinity, it acts as a negative regulator that limits their availability for the patched receptor. HHIP is itself a target of the pathway, forming a feedback loop, and it is important in lung branching and skeletal development. Genetic variation at the HHIP locus has been associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and lung function, and reduced HHIP has been reported in some tumours, so HHIP is studied in development and respiratory disease.
