Description

Mouse ICAM4 ELISA Kit

Mouse ICAM4 ELISA kits are used to detect Intercellular Adhesion Molecule 4 (ICAM4) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ICAM4, also known as CD242 or the Landsteiner-Wiener blood group glycoprotein, is an immunoglobulin-superfamily adhesion molecule found mainly on red blood cells and their precursors. It serves as a ligand for several integrins. Binding to the macrophage integrin alphaX beta2 contributes to erythrophagocytosis, while binding to the platelet integrin alphaIIb beta3 mediates adhesion between erythrocytes and activated platelets. In vitro it can also engage other integrin complexes, including those containing alphaL, alphaM and alpha5 chains. Through these interactions ICAM4 is thought to contribute to erythroid cell-cell contacts, such as those in erythroblastic islands, and to the interplay between red cells, platelets and the vessel wall.
