Description

Mouse IDE ELISA Kit

Mouse IDE ELISA kits are used to detect Insulin Degrading Enzyme (IDE) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. IDE, or insulin-degrading enzyme, is a conserved zinc metalloprotease found in the cytosol, peroxisomes, on the cell surface and in secreted form. It degrades a range of short peptides, including insulin, amyloid beta, amylin, glucagon, natriuretic peptides and bradykinin, and so influences peptide hormone signalling and blood glucose regulation. Substrate binding causes large conformational changes in the enzyme, which allow it to enclose and degrade larger substrates such as insulin. Because it clears both insulin and amyloid beta, IDE has been linked to type 2 diabetes and to Alzheimer disease, and genetic variants in the IDE region have been associated with both. It is therefore studied as a regulator of insulin clearance and amyloid homeostasis.
