Description

Mouse IPF ELISA Kit

Mouse IPF ELISA kits are used to detect Insulin Promoter Factor 1 (IPF) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. IPF, better known as PDX1 (pancreatic and duodenal homeobox 1), is a homeodomain transcription factor essential for pancreatic development and for the function of mature beta cells. It specifies the early pancreatic epithelium during embryogenesis and later controls transcription of genes such as insulin, somatostatin, glucokinase, islet amyloid polypeptide and the glucose transporter GLUT2, particularly in response to glucose. In pancreatic acinar cells it also takes part in complexes that activate the elastase enhancer. Variants in the gene have been associated with maturity-onset diabetes of the young type 4 and with pancreatic agenesis, and PDX1 is widely studied in beta-cell differentiation, diabetes and regenerative medicine research.
