Description

Mouse ITGa4 ELISA Kit

Mouse ITGa4 ELISA kits are used to detect Integrin Alpha 4 (ITGa4) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ITGa4, integrin alpha-4 or CD49d, is a cell adhesion subunit that pairs with integrin beta-1 to form VLA-4 and with beta-7 to form alpha4beta7. It is expressed on lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and haematopoietic progenitors. VLA-4 binds VCAM1 on activated endothelium and fibronectin through its CS-1 region, while alpha4beta7 binds MADCAM1 in the gut. These interactions mediate leukocyte rolling, firm adhesion and migration into inflamed tissue, homing of lymphocytes to the intestinal mucosa, and retention of haematopoietic stem cells in bone marrow. Antibodies such as natalizumab and vedolizumab block it in multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease, and it is studied in immunology and cancer metastasis.
