Description

Mouse ITGb2 ELISA Kit

Mouse ITGb2 ELISA kits are used to detect Integrin Beta 2 (ITGb2) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. ITGb2 is the beta 2 integrin subunit, also known as CD18, and is expressed on the surface of leukocytes where it pairs with different alpha chains to form LFA-1, Mac-1 and related adhesion receptors. These heterodimers bind ICAM family ligands, the complement fragment iC3b and fibrinogen, and so support leukocyte adhesion, transmigration through the vessel wall, phagocytosis and natural killer cell cytotoxicity. ITGb2 also contributes to neutrophil activation during lung injury. Loss-of-function variants cause leukocyte adhesion deficiency type 1, in which patients suffer recurrent bacterial infections because their leukocytes cannot adhere and migrate normally. ITGb2 is therefore studied in inflammation, host defence and immune cell trafficking.
