Description

Mouse ITGb3 ELISA Kit

Mouse ITGb3 ELISA kits are used to detect Integrin Beta 3 (ITGb3) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ITGb3, also known as CD61 or platelet glycoprotein IIIa, is an integrin beta subunit that pairs with alpha-IIb on platelets and with alpha-V on endothelial cells, osteoclasts and many other cell types. Integrin alpha-V beta-3 is a receptor for fibronectin, vitronectin, osteopontin, thrombospondin, von Willebrand factor and other ligands, whereas alpha-IIb beta-3 binds fibrinogen, fibronectin, vitronectin and von Willebrand factor. Both recognise the arginine-glycine-aspartate sequence in a wide array of ligands. After activation, alpha-IIb beta-3 mediates platelet aggregation and thrombus formation, and alpha-V beta-3 contributes to angiogenesis, bone resorption and tumour invasion. Variants cause Glanzmann thrombasthenia, a bleeding disorder, and the platelet antigen polymorphism is a cause of fetomaternal alloimmune thrombocytopenia. ITGb3 antagonists are used as antiplatelet drugs.
