Description

Mouse Kim1 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Mouse Kim1 ELISA kits are used to detect Kidney Injury Molecule 1 (Kim1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. Kim1, or kidney injury molecule 1, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein also known as HAVCR1 and TIM-1, which is virtually undetectable in healthy kidney but strongly upregulated in proximal tubule epithelial cells after ischaemic or toxic injury. It acts as a phosphatidylserine receptor that allows injured epithelial cells to bind and engulf apoptotic bodies and necrotic debris, a process known as efferocytosis, and it also takes part in regulatory B cell homeostasis. Its extracellular domain is shed into the urine. Because of this, increased Kim1 has been associated with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease and drug nephrotoxicity, and it is widely studied as a sensitive marker of tubular damage.
