Description

Mouse KLK7 ELISA Kit

Mouse KLK7 ELISA kits are used to detect Kallikrein 7 (KLK7) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. KLK7, kallikrein 7, also called stratum corneum chymotryptic enzyme, is a secreted chymotrypsin-like serine protease of the kallikrein family that is abundantly expressed in the epidermis. It is thought to degrade the intercellular cohesive structures of the cornified layer, such as corneodesmosomes, so that cells can shed continuously from the skin surface, and it prefers aromatic residues at the cleavage site. It can also cleave insulin chains and may activate precursors of inflammatory cytokines. KLK7 activity is restrained by inhibitors such as LEKTI, and excess activity contributes to skin barrier defects, as in Netherton syndrome and atopic dermatitis. It is also over-expressed in ovarian and other cancers and is investigated as a biomarker.
