Description

Mouse LH ELISA Kit

Mouse LH ELISA kits are used to detect Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. LH, luteinising hormone, is a glycoprotein hormone of the anterior pituitary composed of an alpha subunit shared with FSH, TSH and hCG and a hormone-specific beta subunit, and its secretion is driven by pulses of gonadotropin-releasing hormone. It acts on the LH/choriogonadotropin receptor to stimulate steroid synthesis, promoting testosterone production by Leydig cells in the testis and, in the ovary, androgen and progesterone synthesis. In females a mid-cycle surge triggers ovulation and formation of the corpus luteum, whereas in males it supports spermatogenesis. Low levels are seen in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. High levels occur in primary gonadal failure, menopause and polycystic ovary syndrome, so LH is measured in reproductive research and fertility monitoring.
