Description

Mouse MTTP ELISA Kit

Mouse MTTP ELISA kits are used to detect Microsomal Triglyceride Transfer Protein (MTTP) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. MTTP, or microsomal triglyceride transfer protein, is a lipid transfer protein of the endoplasmic reticulum lumen that forms a heterodimer with protein disulfide isomerase. It is expressed mainly in the liver and intestine and moves triglycerides, cholesteryl esters and phospholipids between membranes. It is essential for the assembly and secretion of apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins, including chylomicrons and very-low-density lipoprotein, by loading lipids onto the nascent apolipoprotein B. Loss-of-function variants cause abetalipoproteinaemia, a recessive disorder with absent apoB-containing lipoproteins, fat malabsorption and fat-soluble vitamin deficiency. Because inhibition of MTTP lowers plasma LDL, the protein is a pharmacological target, with liver fat accumulation as a known consequence, so it is studied in lipid metabolism and fatty liver research.
