Description

Mouse NEUROG3 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Mouse NEUROG3 ELISA kits are used to detect Neurogenin 3 (NEUROG3) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. NEUROG3, or neurogenin 3, is a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor that acts as a master regulator of endocrine differentiation in the pancreas and intestine. It is transiently expressed in endocrine progenitor cells, where it specifies a common precursor of the four pancreatic endocrine cell types, including insulin-producing beta cells, and controls the differentiation of enteroendocrine cells. Together with NKX2-2 it initiates activation of NEUROD1, and it also has roles in neurogenesis. Loss of function causes severe neonatal diabetes and malabsorptive diarrhoea in humans owing to the absence of endocrine cells. Because of its central role in endocrine fate, NEUROG3 is widely used in work on pancreatic development and in protocols to derive beta cells from stem cells.
