Description

Mouse NKA ELISA Kit

Mouse NKA ELISA kits are used to detect Neurokinin A (NKA) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. NKA, or neurokinin A, is a decapeptide of the tachykinin family encoded by the TAC1 gene, which also yields substance P, neuropeptide K and neuropeptide gamma through differential processing of a shared precursor. It is produced by neurons of the central and peripheral nervous system, including sensory nerves, and by some neuroendocrine and immune cells. NKA binds preferentially to the tachykinin receptor TACR2, triggering G protein signalling through phospholipase C and increases in cyclic AMP. Tachykinins excite neurons, evoke behavioural responses, dilate blood vessels, stimulate secretion and contract many smooth muscles, notably in the airways and gut. Altered NKA has been reported in asthma, neurogenic inflammation, pain and neuroendocrine tumours.
