Description

Mouse NPTX2 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Mouse NPTX2 ELISA kits are used to detect Neuronal Pentraxin II (NPTX2) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. NPTX2, also known as neuronal pentraxin 2 or NARP, is a secreted member of the pentraxin family that is expressed in neurons and is regulated by neuronal activity as an immediate early gene. It is likely to play a role in modifying the cellular properties that underlie long-term plasticity, and it binds to an agar matrix in a calcium-dependent manner. NPTX2 is released at excitatory synapses, where it clusters AMPA-type glutamate receptors, and it forms complexes with other pentraxins that regulate excitatory drive onto parvalbumin interneurons. Reduced NPTX2 levels in cerebrospinal fluid have been associated with cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease, and NPTX2 is under study as a synaptic biomarker in neurodegenerative and psychiatric conditions.
