Description

Mouse NTS ELISA Kit

Mouse NTS ELISA kits are used to detect Neurotensin (NTS) in serum, plasma, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. NTS, or neurotensin, is a 13 amino acid peptide produced together with the related peptide neuromedin N from a common precursor. It is found in the brain, where it acts as a neuromodulator that interacts with dopamine systems and influences analgesia, temperature and feeding, and in enteroendocrine N cells of the small intestine, where it is released after fat ingestion. Neurotensin may play an endocrine or paracrine role in the regulation of fat metabolism, and it causes contraction of smooth muscle. Raised neurotensin has been reported in obesity and associated with cardiovascular risk and some tumours, while altered signalling is linked to schizophrenia models, so it is studied in metabolism and neuroscience.
