Description

Mouse PAP ELISA Kit

Mouse PAP ELISA kits are used to detect Plasmin-Antiplasmin Complex (PAP) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. PAP is the plasmin-antiplasmin complex, a stable one-to-one complex formed when the active protease plasmin is bound and inactivated by its main physiological inhibitor, alpha-2-antiplasmin, a serpin made by the liver. Plasmin is generated from plasminogen by plasminogen activators and degrades fibrin in the process of fibrinolysis, which dissolves blood clots. Free plasmin is almost immediately neutralised by antiplasmin, which produces the complex, so its level in plasma reflects how much plasmin has been generated and thereby the activity of the fibrinolytic system. The complex is cleared by the liver with a half-life of about a day. Raised PAP has been associated with activation of fibrinolysis in thrombosis, disseminated intravascular coagulation, surgery and thrombolytic therapy.
