Description

Mouse RETN ELISA Kit

Mouse RETN ELISA kits are used to detect Resistin (RETN) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. RETN encodes resistin, a cysteine-rich secreted hormone that was named for its ability to suppress the capacity of insulin to stimulate glucose uptake into adipose cells, and so potentially links obesity to diabetes. In rodents it is produced mainly by adipocytes, whereas in primates it is produced largely by monocytes and macrophages, and it circulates as oligomers. Resistin promotes chemotaxis in myeloid cells and induces pro-inflammatory cytokines through receptors such as TLR4 and CAP1. Elevated resistin has been associated with insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, sepsis, rheumatoid arthritis and some cancers, so it is studied as an adipokine and inflammatory marker.
