Description
Mouse SORD Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Mouse SORD Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Met1-Pro357, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 40.41 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Sorbitol dehydrogenase is a ~38 kDa protein. Polyol dehydrogenase that catalyzes the reversible NAD(+)-dependent oxidation of various sugar alcohols. For research use only.
Is active with D-sorbitol (D-glucitol) leading to the C2-oxidized product D-fructose. Is a key enzyme in the polyol pathway that interconverts glucose and fructose via sorbitol, which constitutes an important alternate route for glucose metabolism. May play a role in sperm motility by using sorbitol as an alternative energy source for sperm motility and protein tyrosine phosphorylation. Has no activity on ethanol.
