Description

Mouse SYP ELISA Kit

Mouse SYP ELISA kits are used to detect Synaptophysin (SYP) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cerebrospinal fluid and other biological samples. SYP, or synaptophysin, is an integral membrane glycoprotein of about 38 kDa and one of the most abundant proteins of presynaptic vesicles in neurons and neuroendocrine cells. It spans the vesicle membrane four times and binds cholesterol and the vesicle protein synaptobrevin, and it may help organize other membrane components, assist vesicle recycling by endocytosis and influence the targeting of vesicles to the plasma membrane. Because it is widely distributed in synaptic terminals, it is used as a marker of synaptic density and neuroendocrine differentiation. Reduced levels have been associated with Alzheimer disease and other neurodegenerative conditions, and mutations in the gene cause X-linked intellectual disability.
