Description

Mouse TGFbI ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Mouse TGFbI ELISA kits are used to detect Transforming Growth Factor Beta Induced Protein (TGFbI) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. TGFbI, also known as beta ig-h3 or kerato-epithelin, is a secreted extracellular matrix protein induced by transforming growth factor beta and expressed in tissues such as the cornea, skin, bone and the vessel wall. It has an RGD motif and four fasciclin-1 domains, and it binds collagens and integrins, so it contributes to cell adhesion and cell-collagen interactions. Mutations in the gene cause several inherited corneal dystrophies, including granular, lattice and Reis-Bucklers types and epithelial basement membrane dystrophy, in which abnormal protein deposits accumulate in the corneal layers. Altered TGFbI expression has also been reported in cancer, diabetes and fibrosis, where it may act as either a tumour suppressor or a promoter depending on context.
