Description

Mouse TGFbR1 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Mouse TGFbR1 ELISA kits are used to detect Transforming Growth Factor Beta Receptor I (TGFbR1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. TGFbR1, also known as ALK5, is a transmembrane serine/threonine kinase that forms, with TGFBR2, the receptor for the TGF-beta cytokines TGFB1, TGFB2 and TGFB3. After ligand binding, the constitutively active TGFBR2 phosphorylates and activates TGFBR1, which then phosphorylates SMAD2, allowing it to associate with SMAD4 and move to the nucleus to regulate transcription. TGFbR1 also drives SMAD-independent signalling, including TRAF6-dependent activation of MAP3K7 and PARD6A-mediated control of epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Through these pathways it regulates cell cycle arrest, wound healing, extracellular matrix production, immunosuppression and carcinogenesis, and variants cause Loeys-Dietz syndrome, an aortic aneurysm disorder.
