Description

Mouse UCN1 ELISA Kit

Mouse UCN1 ELISA kits are used to detect Urocortin 1 (UCN1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. UCN1, or urocortin 1, is a 40-amino-acid neuropeptide of the corticotropin-releasing factor family, related to CRF itself and to fish urotensin I and frog sauvagine. It is produced in the Edinger-Westphal nucleus of the brain and in peripheral tissues including the heart, gut, immune cells and placenta. Urocortin 1 binds both CRF receptor types, CRF1 and CRF2, with high affinity, and it plays a part in the stress response, appetite suppression, anxiety-related behaviour and inflammation. In the cardiovascular system it causes vasodilation and has protective effects on cardiomyocytes during ischaemia. Altered urocortin levels have been associated with heart failure and stress-related disorders, making it a research target in endocrinology and cardiology.
