Description

Mouse VDR ELISA Kit

Mouse VDR ELISA kits are used to detect Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. VDR is a ligand-activated nuclear receptor for calcitriol, the active hormonal form of vitamin D3, and is also known as NR1I1. After ligand binding it enters the nucleus and forms heterodimers with the retinoid X receptor, and these bind vitamin D response elements on DNA to switch on or off vitamin D-responsive genes. VDR plays a central role in calcium homeostasis and bone mineralisation, and it also regulates cell proliferation, differentiation and immune function. It additionally serves as a receptor for the secondary bile acid lithocholic acid and its metabolites. Loss-of-function variants cause vitamin D-dependent rickets type 2A, and VDR signalling has been associated with osteoporosis, autoimmune disease and cancer.
