Description

Mouse XPC ELISA Kit

Mouse XPC ELISA kits are used to detect Xeroderma Pigmentosum, Complementation Group C (XPC) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. XPC is a DNA damage-sensing protein that is part of the XPC complex with RAD23B and centrin 2 and is involved in global genome nucleotide excision repair. It acts as the damage sensor and DNA-binding factor, preferring DNA with a short single-stranded segment and rapidly screening duplex DNA for non-hydrogen-bonded bases, so that it recognises helix-distorting lesions such as those from ultraviolet light and chemical adducts. It is thought to be the first factor at the damage site and recruits XPA, RPA and the TFIIH complex to form the pre-incision complex. Loss-of-function variants cause xeroderma pigmentosum group C, with extreme sun sensitivity, pigmentation changes and a high predisposition to skin cancer.
