Description

OVA ELISA Kit

OVA ELISA kits are used to detect Ovalbumin (OVA) in serum, plasma, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. OVA is the principal protein of egg white, accounting for more than half of its total protein content, and it is a member of the serpin superfamily although it does not inhibit proteases. It is a phosphorylated and glycosylated protein of about 45 kilodaltons produced in the oviduct under oestrogen control and is thought to serve mainly as a nutrient store for the developing embryo. OVA is also one of the best-known allergens in hen's egg and a standard model antigen in immunology, used to induce antigen-specific T-cell and antibody responses and experimental allergic asthma. Its concentration is measured in food allergen testing, in studies of egg allergy and in vaccine and immunisation research.
