Description

PEG ELISA Kit

PEG ELISA kits are used to detect Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) in biological samples. PEG, or polyethylene glycol, is a synthetic polyether made of repeating ethylene oxide units, available in a wide range of molecular weights from short liquid oligomers to high-molecular-weight solids, and also known as polyethylene oxide or macrogol. It is highly water-soluble, chemically inert and of low toxicity, which has led to wide use in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and laboratory work. Large PEG polymers are not absorbed from the gut, so they act as osmotic laxatives and bowel preparation agents. Attaching PEG chains to proteins, peptides or nanoparticles, called PEGylation, prolongs circulation time and reduces immunogenicity. Because PEG-specific antibodies have been reported in some individuals, and because PEG residues are monitored in products, it is measured in pharmacokinetic and formulation research.
