Description

PIP3 ELISA Kit

PIP3 ELISA kits are used to detect Phosphatidylinositol Trisphosphate (PIP3) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. PIP3, or phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate, is a rare phospholipid of the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane, generated when class I PI3 kinases phosphorylate phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate in response to growth factors, insulin and other receptor activation. It acts as a second messenger by recruiting proteins that carry PH domains, such as AKT, PDK1 and some guanine nucleotide exchange factors, to the membrane, which drives pathways controlling cell survival, growth, metabolism and migration. Signalling is terminated by the phosphatase PTEN, which converts PIP3 back to PIP2, and by SHIP phosphatases. Excess PIP3 signalling, through PI3K activation or loss of PTEN, is among the most frequent alterations in cancer, so PIP3 is studied in oncology and metabolism research.
