Description

PP ELISA Kit

PP ELISA kits are used to detect Dipalmitin (PP) in biological samples. Dipalmitin is a diacylglycerol in which two palmitic acid chains are esterified to a glycerol backbone, and the 1,3-isomer carries them at the outer positions, leaving the central hydroxyl free. It occurs as an intermediate in the digestion and synthesis of triglycerides and as a minor component of natural fats and oils, and is formed in food during partial hydrolysis of palmitic acid-rich fats such as palm oil. Because it is a saturated, high-melting lipid, it is used as a standard in lipid analysis and in studies of fat crystallisation and food emulsifiers. Unlike the 1,2-isomer, 1,3-diacylglycerol does not activate protein kinase C efficiently. PP is of interest in food chemistry and lipid metabolism research.
