Description

Rabbit LIPD ELISA Kit

Rabbit LIPD ELISA kits are used to detect Lipase, Lipoprotein (LIPD) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. LIPD refers to lipoprotein lipase, a key enzyme in triglyceride metabolism that is synthesised in tissues such as adipose, heart and skeletal muscle. It hydrolyses triglycerides carried in circulating chylomicrons and very low density lipoproteins, releasing fatty acids for utilisation or storage and thereby clearing lipid from the bloodstream. Although it has some phospholipase activity, it acts primarily as a triglyceride lipase. The enzyme is transported to the luminal surface of the vascular endothelium, where it is anchored by GPIHBP1 and heparan sulfate proteoglycans. Inherited deficiency causes familial chylomicronemia, with milky plasma and a risk of pancreatitis, and lipoprotein lipase activity is relevant to atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome.
